LICENSING GUIDE
Digital Resale Rights Checklist
The most important question in digital-product arbitrage is not “How cheap is it?” It is “Am I actually allowed to sell or redistribute it in the way I plan?”
Check the exact licence
Read the licence attached to the product or purchase. Do not rely only on a marketplace title, a seller's marketing sentence or a social-media post. The licence is the document that should define what you may do.
Confirm the resale action you intend to take
“Commercial use”, “resell rights”, “master resell rights” and “private label rights” are not interchangeable concepts. Determine whether you can sell the original file, modify it, bundle it, transfer access, or use it as part of another service.
Look for restrictions
Check for restrictions on redistribution, account transfer, sublicensing, marketplaces, territories, subscription access, customer numbers and branding. Software licences may have particularly specific transfer rules.
Check whether the rights survive resale
A product can be legitimately purchased by you while still being unsuitable for resale. For example, a personal subscription may allow use but not redistribution. The right to use something and the right to resell something are different permissions.
Keep evidence
Save the licence page, terms URL, purchase terms and any relevant documentation. Rights can change over time, so retaining the evidence used for your decision makes later review easier.
When the answer is unclear
Do not manufacture certainty. If you cannot establish that the planned resale or redistribution is authorised, treat the opportunity as unsuitable for a BUY recommendation until the rights are independently clarified.
DealAI's trust rule
DealAI is designed to favour transparent uncertainty over a confident-looking assumption. Evidence of price without evidence of rights is not enough for a strong resale opportunity.
